Sporting events boost tourism

Sporting events being held in Spain next year are expected to boost levels of tourism in the country, which in turn will provide opportunities in property investment.

The Spanish Grand Prix held at Barcelona's Circuit de Catalunya is likely to attract sports fans from around the world as they flock to see some of the biggest names in motor racing.

But according to the Association of British Travel Agents a new event in Valencia will also bring a welcome influx of tourists to the country to watch Spain's second Grand Prix which will take place on a circuit around the city's streets.

Like the Monaco Grand Prix it will feature a stunning harbourside stretch along the recently developed America's Cup marina.

Spanish F1 champion Fernando Alonso said: "Four years ago, we didn't have even TV coverage and now we will have two Grands Prix, so that's very special."

As sports fans plan trips to Spain to witness these two exciting events property investors will be eying up opportunities to meet the extra demand for rental accommodation in and around the country's major cities.
