Weather drives Britons abroad
Monday January 28th , 2008

The cold and wet winter weather is helping to drive people from the UK out of the country, new research has revealed.
According to a study by Moneycorp, almost two-thirds of Britons feel miserable because of the dour conditions at this time of the year.
The study also found that 48 per cent considered January the most depressing month of the year, while 40 per cent were said to be thinking of emigrating in order to escape seasonal anxiety.
Furthermore, nearly nine out of ten respondents stated that they were tempted by the prospect of living in a sunny location such as Spain, as it would give them a better quality of life.
Nick Bull, head of marketing at Moneycorp, commented: "It's interesting to see that people consider something as life changing as a move abroad as the answer to their woes."
The Meath Chronicle recently recommended that people book their summer holiday early, as this would allow them to look forward to guaranteed sunshine during the tail-end of winter.
