Britons escape strong euro in Turkey
Wednesday July 23rd , 2008

An online travel agency has revealed that a growing number of British tourists are booking trips to Turkey.
According to Holidays-Direct, the European country is becoming increasingly popular with consumers in the UK.
The company believes this is partly because of the weakness of the pound against the euro, as this has impacted on the price of goods and services in the eurozone.
Jon Pearce, spokesperson for Holidays-Direct, commented: "Holidaymakers worry that using the euro on holiday is going to cost more while on holiday."
As a result, people are increasingly shunning established European hotspots and heading for similar locations with more favourable exchange rates.
Turkey was praised for offering a number of attractions to visitors, such as its Mediterranean coastline and historical sites.
This backs up the views of Lastminute.com and the Association of British Travel Agents, which have both reported a surge in the popularity of Turkey this summer.
