Buyers 'should not act differently when buying property abroad'

Overseas investors should not do anything they would not usually do at home when purchasing a property, it has been advised.

Martin Webster, who recently invested in a retirement property in Turkey, said that buyers should not do anything differently overseas during the buying process.

He told Homes Worldwide that basic measures such as looking at the surrounding area were important, along with having a good agent.

However, he stated that researching the area did not need to be a particularly long process if people were already familiar with it.

Mr Webster said: "It only took a day to find the right property for us."

He added that he was drawn to Turkey after visiting the country on holiday, mainly because of the scenery and the cost of living.

This comes after the Turkish Daily News reported that foreign property investors were increasingly looking to take advantage of favourable conditions in the Turkish property market.
