Extra Turkey flights 'will meet tourist demand'
Thursday April 16th , 2009

Frequent visitors to Turkey will soon benefit from more air services, according to a British airline.
Monarch Airlines has announced it is to further expand its summer schedule to the country in response to increasing demand from tourists and Turkey property owners.
The airline will offer twice weekly flights from Gatwick, Manchester and Birmingham to Antalya from May 27th.
Additionally, Monarch will continue to offer chartered flights to Dalaman and Bodrum.
Monarch's managing director, Liz Savage, commented: "Turkey is becoming more popular as a short break destination which is why we are flying to some Turkish gateways virtually every day of the week."
The airline suggests that increased demand for Turkish tourism is explained by its position outside the eurozone, and by the strong rate of sterling compared to the lira.
Monarch is a major provider of low-cost scheduled flights between foreign and UK destinations.
