New power line planned for Turkey

Georgia is planning to install a high voltage electricity line to Turkey, it has been reported.

Construction is set to begin later this year and should be finished within three years, which may be of interest to those with property in Turkey.

Sulkhan Zumburidze, director of the state power dispatcher Georgian State Electrosystem, told Reuters that the project will cost 220 million euros to complete.

He said the new line – which will link up with the Turkish electricity network – will have a capacity of 400 kilovolts.

Russia is also interested in using Georgia's electricity network in order to sell its own power to Turkey.

Julian Walker, a spokesman for Spot Blue, recently claimed Turkey is currently one of the best destinations for those looking to invest in overseas property.

"Turkey is one of the few logical choices for those seeking to balance lifestyle and financial advantage in their retirement," she said.
