Occupancy rates go up in Turkish rental properties

Demand for rental accommodation in a popular Turkish tourist destination has gone up this year, new figures have revealed.

According to the Turkish Hotels Federation, occupancy rates in Antalya province rose by 20 per cent over the Easter holiday, reports TurkishPress.com.

Ahmet Barut, president of the board at the organisation, said he expects this to lead to further growth during the rest of the year.

He added that during the Easter season, Antalya attracted people from countries such as Spain, Switzerland and central Europe.

However, he stated that he expects its appeal to spread to the east of the continent during 2008.

Mr Barut commented: "Turkey is more attractive in terms of quality and prices when compared to other countries."

This comes after the Turkish Daily News quoted Alaaddin Yuksel, governor of Antalya, as saying that he hopes the region will attract ten million visitors this year - up from eight million in 2007.
