Retirees tipped to head for Turkey
Friday April 11th , 2008

Turkey is set to become a major hotspot for retirees who want to live abroad, according to a leading academic.
Allan Williams from London Metropolitan University said expatriates want to live in a place which offers culture, good living standards and a favourable climate, Today's Zaman reports.
He also stated that the number of foreigners who have bought real estate in the south-east European country has increased considerably in the last few years.
This has prompted him to predict that this trend will continue and that more and more retirees will choose to set up home there.
Mr Williams commented: "When we look at 2008 it is easy to say there will be busy migration traffic of the retired and that Turkey will host a considerable amount of this traffic."
He added that within the next couple of years, Antalya will be the main hotspot for older expatriates.
According to official figures, about 207,000 British nationals relocated overseas in 2006.
