Turkey attracts more visitors

The Turkish government has revealed that the country has attracted more than 1.6 million holidaymakers during the year so far.

Official figures cited by TurkishPress.com show that this is 11.8 per cent higher than the amount recorded during the same period of 2007.

Turkey's appeal was found to be increasing in eastern Europe in particular, as the number of visitors from this region went up by more than ten per cent.

Although Germans accounted for the majority of incoming leisure travellers, Bulgarians accounted for the second-largest group.

Meanwhile, Turkey was found to be very popular with holidaymakers from Russia.

This is a welcome development for Turkish tourist officials, as they recently announced their aim to attract more than 50 million foreign visitors a year by 2023.

According to John Howell from the International Law Partnership, growing tourism in the country has created new opportunities for property buyers who wish to cash in on the resulting demand for rental accommodation.
