Turkey becoming more popular

More and more overseas property buyers are choosing to invest in Turkey, according to a media outlet.

Turkish newspaper Today's Zaman stated that in the last five years, foreign nationals have spent over £5 billion on real estate in the country.

The publication highlighted the broad appeal of Turkey among the overseas property fraternity, as many were said to be buying for different reasons.

For example, whereas some plan to rent out their residence and use it to generate wealth, others want it for personal use as a holiday home.

Furthermore, Today's Zaman said the country is proving to be popular with older people who want to settle down and enjoy their retirement.

The newspaper added that buyers were coming from countries as diverse as the US, France, the Netherlands and Germany.

This comes after Turkey was voted as the third most attractive market among British overseas property buyers in a poll by A Place in the Sun magazine.
