Turkish tourism boost set to benefit investors

Overseas property investors could be in line to benefit from efforts to boost tourism in Turkey.

According to TurkishPress.com, the country's State Planning Organisation wants Turkey to become one of the world's leading holiday destinations.

The body said that it wants to attract more than 23 million foreign leisure travellers this year and catch up with rival tourist hotspots.

Officials highlighted France, Spain and Italy as three of the countries it wishes to compete with in terms of the number of holidaymakers it attracts each year.

This should be a positive development for owners of property in Turkey, as it suggests they may benefit from extra rental demand in future.

The additional interest could also lead to the value of property in certain hotspots going up.

As a result, investors would be able to collect the proceeds of considerable capital growth.

According to A Place in the Sun magazine, Turkey is currently the most popular emerging market among British property buyers.

The country was also rated ahead of many established rivals such as Italy and Portugal.
