Turkish weather tempts expats

The good weather in Turkey has been highlighted as one of the main reasons for its popularity among foreign nationals.

In recent years, the south-east European country has become a hotspot of activity for both overseas property investors and those who want to live abroad permanently.

Dokuz Eylul University (DEU) has carried out a poll of expatriates living in Antalya to see what made them want to live there full-time, Today's Zaman reports.

The research showed that the warm climate is one of the most attractive features of the country.

DEU also found that the history, culture and welcoming people were also highly commended.

Turkey's financial benefits were flagged up as a further attraction, including its relatively cheap property values.

According to figures from the researchers, the country is home to expats from places such as Germany, Ireland, Sweden, Norway and Belgium.

This comes after Today's Zaman revealed that nearly 13,000 foreign property buyers have invested in real estate in Mugla, of which just over 10,000 are British.
