UK holidaymakers 'should consider Turkey'

Holidaymakers from the UK should consider destinations outside of the Eurozone if they wish to get the best value, an expert has claimed.

The economic climate and the weakening pound mean European locations are not offering the same benefits as they have done previously.

Currently, the exchange rate remains close to 1:1 – making trips to the Eurozone some 30 per cent pricier than its historic average.

Speaking on GMTV, Wanderlust editor Dan Linstead said a mid-price meal will cost travellers around £10 to £20 more than just a couple of years ago.

"For better value, you need to look further afield to countries like Croatia, Turkey or Egypt," he remarked.

Hundreds of homes for sale in Turkey are set to be on display at an international property show being held in the UK next month.

Turkey will be one of the best-represented countries at A Place in the Sun Live - which visits London's Earls Court from April 3rd to 5th.
