Alicante

Alicante, located south of Valencia, has 8 km of fine, sandy beaches and a lively port and marina.

It’s a great place to have sailing or diving lessons or you can simply relax at a bar watching the boats bobbing up and down on the water.

Everything you need is here, from the shops on Calle de Gerona to the bars and restaurants in El Barrio, Alicante’s grand historic centre. If you like to party, there are fantastic late night discos at the port.

If you like to play, there are three excellent golf clubs in the area as well as facilities for tennis and the usual water sports and you’ll enjoy soaking up the sunshine on Alicante’s beaches.

There are five fine sandy beaches in and around Alicante, from San Juan in the north to Salador in the south; three of these have been awarded the prestigious Blue Flag.

Four beaches have excellent facilities for disabled people, including amphibian wheelchairs and Red Cross volunteers, so people with disabilities can also go for a swim.

Most of these beaches are well serviced with parking areas, toilets and playgrounds and most have a lifeguard on duty. They have great facilities for beach sports, windsurfing and sailing and all are close to bars and restaurants.

One of the beaches is on the Isla de Tabarca, reached by boat. It’s a marine nature reserve, where the ultra clear water makes the seabed an underwater paradise for divers.
