Benidorm buzzes 365 days a year, from the tips of its gleaming skyscrapers to the chatter of its open air bars.

Its beaches are the most immaculate on the Med, and innovative too. Not only were they some of the first beaches to be made accessible to disabled bathers but they also host their own libraries.

In fact, the groundbreaking facilities are the envy of many other European tourist resorts and there are few places that can match the heady atmosphere of Benidorm.

There’s a more authentic experience in Benidorm’s old town where you can wander the streets, buy traditional goods and sample some great Spanish food.

When you fancy a change of scene, there are lots of places for day trips. You can treat the kids to a day out at Terra Natura, where they can swim with sharks or hurtle down huge water slides to the pool below.

Terra Mítica is a fantastic theme park just 5 minutes from Benidorm, with breathtaking rides like the scary Tizona rollercoaster which reaches speeds of 100 kmh and heights of 31 metres.

After all that you’ll be ready to relax on one of Benidorm’s five beaches.

The fine golden sands of Pontiente and Levant beaches are meticulously cleaned every day and topped up each year with fresh imported sand, so it’s no wonder they keep their Blue Flag awards year on year.

Levante beach is fully accessible for anyone with reduced mobility, having amphibian wheelchairs, ramps and trained volunteers to help you to go for a swim in the Med.

Both beaches provide excellent facillities for sunbathing, swimming and water sports as well as unique library facilities, where you can borrow a book or English newspaper to read while you top up your tan.

If you enjoy scuba diving, head for the Isle of Benidorm; its verdant seabed has been declared a marine nature reserve.
