Pilar de La Horadada

Pilar de la Horadada has attracted a large number of expats from across Europe for its beautiful environment, mild climate, wonderful beaches and closeness to the airport at Murcia.

At the southernmost tip of the Valencia region, it only became a town in its own right 16 years ago.

Only 3 km from deserted beaches and a quiet little port, it is surrounded by citrus and orange groves and you can smell the sweet scent of rosemary and thyme growing wild here.

Despite its rural and seaside location, the town has all the facilities you need, including shops, supermarkets, medical centre, schools, restaurants, cinema and swimming pool. Every Friday the street market bustles with people looking to pick up a bargain or two.

There are 4 kilometres of sandy beaches at Pilar de la Horadada, stretching from popular Playa de las Mil Palmeras to quieter El Mojon.

Mil Palmeras is probably the busiest of these beaches, it has ideal conditions for sailing and the beach has been especially adapted for disabled people. The furthest southern beach, El Mojon, on the border with Murcia, is popular with diving enthusiasts.

Jesuitas-Cala Rincón and Las Villas-Higuericas have the most beautiful white sands and calm blue waters and they’re well equipped for the usual water sports, so it’s not surprise to learn that they both hold the prestigious Blue Flag.

The third Blue Flag beach, Puerto, has fine golden sand with a great waterfront and well cared for beach area.
