San Pedro del Pinatar

San Pedro del Pinatar is one of the Costa Cálida’s principal tourist resorts.

It’s a quick 2.5 hour flight to San Javier airport and a short fifteen minute drive to reach glorious weather, golden sands and warm, sparkling sea.

It’s no surprise that in hot summer months the town’s population swells to four times its size as flocks of visitors head for its Blue Flag beaches and lush saltwater lagoon.

Despite this influx of tourists, San Pedro del Pinatar still manages to retain the charming customs and culture of a traditional Spanish sea-port.

The port forms part of the famous La Manga area, the strip of land between the rejuvenating Mar Manor lagoon and the Mediterranean Sea.

Visitors to La Manga will find excellent facilities including championship golf courses, wonderful bars and restaurants and fantastic water sports along the coast.

The beaches of San Pedro del Pinatar are unusual, facing the deep blue of the Mediterranean on one side and the saltwater lagoon of Mar Menor on the other, where the water temperature can reach a hot 30º in August.

You can choose between immaculate Blue Flag beaches like La Puntica, the shores of the lake or first-class sailing, scuba diving or windsurfing in the well equipped marina.

Mar Menor

Mar Menor is Europe’s largest and most spectacular saltwater lagoon. Home to migratory birds, including dramatic pink flamingoes, it has been popular since Roman times.

For centuries people have come here to float in the warm temperatures of the lagoon, feeling the benefits of the mud’s healing properties, known to be effective at treating muscular aches and pains as well as being fantastic for the skin.
