Santa Pola is a charming town full of beauty and history, where warm sunny days mean you make the most of the town’s blue flag beaches and shimmering clear water.

It’s quick and easy to get to, just a short 2 – 3 hour flight to Alicante and a quarter of an hour after leaving the airport, you’re there.

Santa Pola is a charming Spanish town with Blue Flag beaches, areas of outstanding natural beauty and places of historic interest.

With its sun-baked grand buildings and relaxed pace of life, the town has maintained its authenticity. It’s an attractive place to stroll around, shop or simply take in the atmosphere from a pavement café.

Away from the centre, the nature reserves and coastal areas offer the whole range of sporting activities.

These include trekking, paragliding, windsurfing, boating and fishing and there are some excellent local golf courses and tennis courts in the locality.

A trip to the natural paradise of Las Salinas salt flats, home to thousands of flamingoes, is one not to miss. It’s ideal for hiking and you’ll get some fantastic photographs on the way.

As for beaches, there’s one for every day of the week at Santa Pola.

Santa Pola’s biggest allure has got to be the soft sand and sparkling Mediterranean Sea of its 15 km of beaches; many of which have been awarded the Blue Flag.

If you’re looking for a tranquil swim and to sunbathe under the rustle of palms, try Tamarit, El Pinet, Playa Lisa and Calas Del Cabo beaches where the waters are shallow and calm.

Children can also swim safely and make new friends at the Blue Flag beaches of Varadero, Santa Pola del Este coves and Tamarit Beaches, all with clean, soft sand.

And whatever your age you’ll enjoy the water sports on Gran Playa and Levante beaches and scuba divers will love the artificial reef at La Gola and Le Pinet.

Parts of the central Levante beach and Gran Playa are set aside for wheelchair access, with a wooden ramp leading to a platform with sunbathing and changing facilities. Everyone can take a dip here, regardless of their level of mobility.
