If you love a bargain, Altinkum has more than enough shops and market stalls to keep you happy. You can buy all kinds of clothes, jewellery, leather goods, carpets and colourful ceramics at prices that are usually much lower than in the UK.

And when the sun goes down, Altinkum’s bars and nightclubs come to life in the harbour and Dolphin Square. And if clubbing is not for you, just relax over a good meal or a few drinks, simply soaking up the atmosphere.

Things to do, in and around Altinkum:

• Take a boat trip to the enchanting island of Samos where you can enjoy a glass or two of its renowned sweet wine
• Spend an evening listening to traditional Turkish music and watch an exotic belly dance performance
• Watch or take part in one of the many water sports available at Altinkum’s main beach
• Take a photo of the snake adorned head of Medusa at the Temple of Apollo in Didyam and stay for the sunset when the red sky against the stone columns is too beautiful to miss
